    Our standard opening hours for Museum visits are:

    Friday 10am - 4pm (last entry 3pm).

    Saturday 10am - 4pm (last entry 3pm).

    Sunday  10am - 4pm (last entry 3pm).

    EASTER OPENING:

    We will be closed (Museum & Café) for Good Friday, but open over the weekend on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday for normal opening hours.

    NB: If you wish to visit at an alternative time, please contact us to discuss on enquiries@britishschoolsmuseum.org.uk to discuss a private tour.

    9:00 - 14:30 every weekday

    10:00 - 15:30 every Saturday and Sunday

    NB: The Café is open every day, even when the Museum is closed.

    The Café  will be closed on the following dates for private functions & Bank Holidays:

    Thursday 28 March

    Good Friday (29th March).

    Easter Monday (1st April)

    Thursday 11 April

    Both Café & Museum will be open on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday with normal opening hours.

    We apologise for the inconvenience.

  • Group Visits

    If you would like to visit the Museum outside of our standard opening times, or are interested in visiting with a group of 10 or more people, please do enquire about our Group Visits:

Admission prices

  • Ticket details

    Admission is £6.50 for all visitors aged 5 and over.

    As a charity, all money raised go towards preserving our historic buildings and Museum collection.

    You can purchase your ticket on arrival at our Entrance Desk, or book in advance using this link:

    Reminder - We open for visits Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We close at 4pm but last entry is at 3pm to allow you time to look around.

    Please note that a Craft activity for children is always included in the price of their admissions ticket.

    We can put on a Victorian Lesson just for you!

    Come and see what it took to be a Victorian school child. Minimum numbers 10 - contact enquiries@britishschoolsmuseum.org.uk for further details.

    Are you interested in visiting the Museum but cannot get here during our regular opening hours, or are interested in seeing more of our collection behind the scenes for a particular research interest?

  • Importance notices for your visit:

    Please be patient with our Victorian site!

    It is VERY cold and difficult to heat in winter. We do our best, but it is always a good idea to come with an extra jumper (or two) on!

    Please also note that there are 2 areas (the Gallery Classroom and Victorian Headmaster's House) are step-only access due to their age and original historic design.
