Join us for Heritage Open Day at the British Schools Museum on the weekend of September 13th-15th. This year’s theme, ‘Routes, Networks, and Connections’, offers a unique look into how children of the past were taught about the world around them.
Explore a fascinating array of artefacts, from schoolwork to games, toys to needlework, each illustrating how children understood and interacted with their environment. These items not only tell the story of the past but also highlight the significant differences between their world and ours today.
In addition, we will have transcripts of entry records from the Hitchin British School available. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone with local ancestors to delve into their family history, discovering where their relatives came from and the paths they took.
