Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS) Puppet Session!
For our very youngest visitors we are very happy to have our helpful puppets Violet and Arthur here to help explain everything about life in Victorian times and bring the past to life.
This early years session compares going to school in Victorian times to now. EYFS children will compare the clothes the puppets are wearing, how they fastened and what they are called, with their own clothes.
They will compare the sounds and smells of travelling to school then and now, using Nursery Rhymes and movement to enhance this.
They will have the opportunity to dress up, use dolls to tell a traditional tale, do some coin rubbing to compare old and new coins and fill a lavender bag to take away with them as well as the opportunity to play with and explore some replica Victorian toys.
These sessions are designed to extend vocabulary, encourage similarities and differences between childhood then and now.
They include elements from among others:
- Communication and Language ELG: Listening, Attention and Language. ELG: Speaking
- Understanding the World ELG: Past and Present
Plenary notes on the vocabulary used and further activities will be provided for teachers.
