"Three generations of us found a plethora of nostalgia, and interesting information. The staff (all volunteers!) were very nice and extremely knowledgeable about the history, the processes of education as it was developed and the exhibits themselves.
This museum is a real treasure for the country. We spent the full three hours on a Sunday afternoon and could have spent more.
Brilliant!"

DON’T BE LATE!

Our next Victorians Live! event will be revealed soon.
Come and meet Victorian characters around the schools. Children can try their hand at Victorian chores such as brass cleaning, shoe shining, meal preparation and more. Then take part in a Victorian lesson!
What to expect
-
We will...
- Welcome you with a warm hello and smile, albeit from a safe distance
- Have friendly members of staff onsite to provide information and answers to questions.
- Open your eyes to the forgotten story of our route to universal free education for all...
-
We ask you to…
- Please be patient with our Victorian site! It is cold and difficult to heat in winter, and two areas (the Gallery Classroom and Victorian Headmaster's House) are step-only access due to their age and original design.
